Are you bored of doing shopping? Don’t worry, next to the Chiaia Staircase you can stop for few minutes and enjoy one of the most elegant and beautiful historical buildings in Naples, Palazzo Mannajuolo; its name comes from the surname of the businessman who commissioned it at the beginning of the last century.
This building will catch immediately your attention thanks to its majesty and its huge front windows. Walking from Piazza Amedeo, you can notice this palace since long distance thanks to its wise perspective, which makes its fake elliptical dome – called Belvedere – emerge in all its beauty. Wondering why we said “fake”? Simply because it doesn’t have any architectural purpose, just decorative, and it was not accomplished on purpose, so what you see from the outside is the only existing part! Its decorative abundance makes it one of the greatest example of Neapolitan liberty style, which you can see – even more than through its architectural elements – through its incredibly detailed front door all in durmast, on which shutters there are two majestic bronze lion heads standing out.
Listen to us, and you won’t regret it: ask the concierge to go inside, and enjoy its elliptical staircase, which has a unique and refined style. You will get lost just looking at it, trust us!
Before you leave, turn on your right, because that’s not all: you will find another staircase just in front of you; this one is squared, but still amazing.
This palace is a real astonishment and it is considered part of Naples’ heritage, but, above all, it’s a great experience, which is really worth to live.
