Reggia di Capodimonte
Via Miano, 2, Napoli, NA, Italia
Nowadays this is a place where people go for a drink or pic-nic and couples enjoy the sun cuddling on the endless field in the wood. What you should know, because probably you don’t, is that in the 1738 Carlo of Bourbons wanted a place for hunting and that’s why he turned that amazing green area in a 124 hectares park with a breath taking, Neapolitan red Realm… he was a classic “rah-rah type”!
Not far from there you will find the “Real Fabbrica della Porcellana” (Royal Porcelain Factory), where they produce Capodimonte porcelain (which is a distinctive product as traditional party favors at weddings). From this very famous spot – well known as “View of Naples” – you can enjoy the breath taking view on the Gulf of Naples and surrender to the unique emotion of being in this place, which was a royal residence at the time, and today it’s a museum with 200.000 people coming every year!
This Realm saw the very first events regarding hot-air balloons and nowadays it hosts in its 3 floors masterpieces by Raffaello, Tiziano, Parmigianino and Flemish art. But you should be prepared for shock and awe as soon as you step into the Tapestry Room and you will see knights’ armour, helmets and 2 metres long swards… literally the ones you see in Game of Thrones look like toys compared to them!
